On the surface the water was calm
Elena and Eloise present a garden of sculptures—flowers blooming not in soil, but in stone, concrete, marble, and bronze. These works evoke weeds and wildflowers that grow in industrial spaces, pushing through cracks, concrete interstices, abandoned quarries or by dry railway tracks.
Yet fragile and ephemeral in form, here carved from solid materials, the flowers reflect a quiet resistance. Beneath concrete, flowers bloom.
On the surface the water was calm is a tribute to what grows despite control, and to the fragile nature that resist the world around us.
