Analoge fotografie speelt een cruciale rol in F R A M E D I D E N T I T I E S
In onze digitale wereld is het tastbare karakter van film belangrijk.
Film biedt (zowel tijdens mijn werk achter en voor de camera en later bij het afdrukken) het
vangen van een heel specifiek moment dat een innemend beeld oplevert: een bouwwerk van
gelaagdheid. Licht, schaduw en textuur zijn nu ingrediënten van een unieke wisselwerking die
diepgaand door het hele boek terug te zien is.

F R A M E D I D E N T I T I E S is een kunstboek dat een diepgaand onderzoek naar de
menselijke ervaringswereld zichtbaar maakt.
F R A M E D I D E N T I T I E S creëert een atmosfeer die het mogelijk maakt de vaste
omschrijving van de identiteit te bevragen.
Het zet je aan tot zelfreflectie en verkent daarmee de gelaagdheid van ons als mens.
Het uiteindelijke beeld is de versmelting van die verschillende lagen.
F R A M E D I D E N T I T I E S daagt de 1-dimensionale werkelijkheid uit.

Over mij: Ik ben Nathan Favot (33 jr.) Frans van geboorte, (gewoond, gewerkt en gestudeerd in zowel
binnen- als buitenland) en nu een huis en atelier in Amsterdam.
Na mijn afstuderen aan de Rietveld Academie (2017) startte een langlopend onderzoek naar
de menselijke -gelaagde- identiteit via -gelaagde- zelfportretten (analoge fotografie) in mijn studio.

Analog photography plays a crucial role in Framed Identities. By embracing the tactile nature of film and the deliberate process of capturing each image, I aim to create a tangible and immersive experience for the viewer. Analog photography allows for a unique interplay of light, shadow, and texture, bringing a sense of authenticity and depth to the visuals within the book.

Framed Identities is not just another art book; it represents a profound exploration of the human experience. By delving into the multiverse within, we question the very fabric of reality and challenge preconceived notions of identity and existence. This project offers an opportunity to embark on a thought-provoking journey that inspires self-reflection and expands our understanding of the world around us.
Framed Identities is an immersive experience presented within the pages of a meticulously designed book. It spans over 500 pages, printed on A4 paper, maintaining the original 4x5 ratio of the photographs. The open spine binding, meticulously handcrafted, ensures a visually striking and durable book that beautifully showcases the collection of images.

About me: I am Nathan Favot, a 33-year-old French artist living in Amsterdam. After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2017, I embarked on a creative journey that led me to explore the intricacies of human identity through analog photography. Framed Identities is the culmination of my artistic endeavours, an introspective exploration that seeks to inspire and provoke contemplation.
