Garden of Eden
This theme, Garden of Eden or Paradise, every once in a while pops up in my work. There is this notion of the place as a walled garden situated somewhere in the middle east and a long time ago. I quite like this idea because these walls turn it into a very urban myth. It is a safe place in a hostile world where three meals a day are served. Nevertheless, we are only human. We want to escape from all this abundence. So we climb the tree of knowledge, and off we go.
When I saw the walls of De Bouwput a few months ago I knew where I was. So I decided to combine old work with new work especially made for this space. To make the show site specific so to speak.
